The American Campaign Medal is awarded to service members who served in the American Theater of Operations from December 7, 1941 to March 2, 1946. The medal was also awarded as a decoration for service while in combat against the enemy. The service must have been for at least one year within the continental United States, or thirty consecutive days outside the continental United States, or for sixty nonconsecutive days outside the continental United States within the American Theater of Operations.
